The Department of Youth works toward making Sint Maarten a safer and healthier place for young people. The Department is part of the Ministry of Education, Youth, Culture & Sport, Government of Sint Maarten.
Some of our work includes creating youth-related policies, implementing programs to improve the development of children, such as parenting programs, supporting (through subsidies) after-school programs that benefit the youth, encouraging meaningful youth participation in our society, and offering opportunities for youth to be better equipped to enter the labour market, etc.
The Integrated Youth Policy (IYP) guides the development of programs for youth in SintMaarten, ages 0 to 24. It focuses on education, health, emotions, and future opportunities. This policy supports their rights and aims to ensure they have the best chance to reachtheir full potential and make a difference in their community. By 2025, the goal is for allyouth to develop well, gain important skills, and contribute positively to Sint Maarten.
